1Marilyn Henigman, BSW, MPA, Career Counsellor (2004) is the proprietor of SearchWise. She has been working as an Employment Counsellor in Victoria since 1998, primarily as a work search and job placement coordinator. Her passion is in assisting people to find rewarding employment. She is also a source of information about employment opportunities and employment resources in Victoria BC.

She teaches “Career Exploration” at Camosun College and has been working with immigrants and refugees for the last 5 years as a Job Developer at the Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria.

Speaker: Larry Earnhart

Funding Available To Start a Small Business & Skills Needed To Be an Entrepreneur

Venue: theDock

Larry Earnhart works for a company that has a government contract to turn Youth into Entrepreneurs. He has been an entrepreneur, owned a restaurant and a handyman franchise and currently has a business coaching business. He’s also been a financial advisor and worked in the chemical production industry in the U.S. as an Operations Manager, Lab Manager, Project Manager, Safety, Environmental and Quality Manager and Emergency Response Team Leader. He also teaches online business courses for University Canada West. He has a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Georgia Institute of Technology and an MBA from Pepperdine University. He’s also written a book: The Profit Machine.

Speaker: Roger Junker

The Art of Leadership

Roger Junker, the Store Manager of Save on Foods at Saanich Plaza was born and raised in Castlegar, B.C.  He started his career in the food retail industry when he worked for Safeway in 1983.  He took some time off to attend Business School and; he returned to Safeway and ascended through various manager ranks including Produce Manager / Assistant Manager which is said to be the final and essential assessment to being a Store Manager.  His journey in the FMCG industry took him to all of the Kootenay Stores, Vernon, Surrey, the Head office in Vancouver, Terrace, and eventually to Victoria.  In 2014, he switched to Save on Foods while he was located at the Fort and Foul Bay store.  Since, he has led the Save on Foods Tillicum store and now the Saanich Plaza location.  He has trained 12 Store Managers who have been his assistants and his leadership has been credited as bar none.
